The adaptive reuse project included the ground-level conversion of an existing office complex into a state-of-the-art data center.  The equipment yard included four (4) 2.0 MW backup generators dedicated to the data center, providing N+1 redundancy.  Floors 2–4 were renovated to make way for refreshed office spaces, with upgrades to electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.

Preventing impact to patient-care was of top priority—Vader worked diligently with The Walsh Group and Northwestern Medicine to orchestrate minimally intrusive construction activities.  Use of strategic phasing and pull-planning in unison with HEPA-Carts and tenting resulted in a successful project within a controlled environment.

The project was successfully completed in record time to help relieve pressure on the hospital system.  It was designed to treat up to 3,000 patients throughout three of McCormick Center’s halls.
